The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) issued a final rule stating that October 1, 2015 will be the official compliance date for ICD-10 implementation. ICD-10 codes on a claim are used to classify diagnoses for procedures on claims submitted to MaineCare. Please click here to access more details from CMS regarding ICD-10 implementation.
Beginning October 1, 2015, MSB will require appropriate ICD-10 codes to be entered for each student receiving Speech and Hearing, Occupational Therapy, or Physical Therapy, Section 65 CBHDT and 28 RCS services in Lumea™. The ICD-10 codes must be determined by a licensed practitioner. No claims with dates of service after October 1st will be submitted for reimbursement unless an ICD-10 code has been entered for the student.
We will be sending more detailed information and instructions soon, but please share this information with your service providers so they may begin to prepare for this transition. Please contact your Program Specialist if you have any questions or concerns.
