MSB was recently informed that the Medicaid to Schools Program policy changes are effective retroactive to August 23, 2016.
This means that NH Licensed Clinical Social Workers, Licensed Mental Health Counselors, and out of state licensed Social Workers are qualified to provide Mental Health Services and perform all duties consistent with the regulatory definition of a Licensed Practitioner of the Healing Arts (LPHA). We hope that this will reduce the number of waivers that districts have historically have had to request.
In addition, Speech Assistants, Physical Therapy Assistants and Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants will require a second signature from a Licensed Practitioner of the Healing Arts. MSB has updated our paper transaction logs, as well as Lumea to reflect these new regulations.
What does your district need to do?
Please take a moment to assign your related service assistants to the appropriate SLP, OT or PT so they may provide a second signature. Until your SLAs, PTAs, and COTAs are assigned to the appropriate individual with the Team Leader role in Lumea, those sessions will be pending a second signature before billing.
